Thread: Goose what?

  1. #1

    Goose what?

A friend of mine who is an avid hunter just gave me a 10 pound goose to cook up. The only thing is that I have never grilled one of these babies before. I was thinking about putting it in the smoker but I really have no idea what to do. If someone would be kind enough to offer some ideas or suggestions on how to cook this I would be greatly appreciative.

I am definitely no expert on cooking goose so I have found a link for you to check out. It looks to be fairly easy to follow instructions.

Hey that was a great link you provided. Thanks a bundle. I will be doing this in a few days and then I will let you know how it turns out. I really hope I dont screw this up as I only have one shot.

Have you ever heard the saying my goose is cooked? I have very little experience with cooking a goose but I have heard that they can be difficult to carve up. All I am saying is that you should be careful when doing that.

I have only ever cooked goose in the oven before but I imagine that they come out a lot better in the smoker. The best method I have heard of for smoking one of these is to do it low and slow as with most meat. This will give you some very tender and juicy meat.
