Kettle Grilling Tip
Found that dumping coals directly onto bottom of Kettle grill (without coal grid) helps control temp for low N slow. My old kettle grill is missing vent covers (fell off and out of sight! LOL) Did some rib tips and do good by it!
Not using the Freezer Q for the next 6 weeks, got it all cleaned up and gett`n it ready for my relocation to South Carolina.

Where are you headed for and I`ll try to give you a few ideas on joints in the area

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
Going just south of Charlotte, NC, which is the nearest big city, between Lancaster, SC and Charlotte, NC. Lots of hits on web for Q joints, but I just hates to brag on myself but mostly mine is better than any Q joint I been. Sweets

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
I`ll also bet that you *will* try some of the more highly recommended Q joints just to compare, and possibly get another idea or two. Just don`t expect it to be as good as anyone`s home made. The Q joint is still mass producing the stuff, and must make a profit every day, just to keep the doors open.

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
Lexington and Greensboro may be worth a trip for you though. Stamey`s in Greensboro and Lexington # 1 are just out of this world. Both of the Bridges places in Shelby are pretty good. If you travel there is a new book out that called Tarheel BBQ. It is set up for travelers. Even has it set up so you can know what joints are along each highway.

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
I figured to swing by Lexington sometime to see what was going on, it`ll be nice to explore and see what I can find. Some guy around Charlotte area has a trailer that he takes from parking to parking lot, calls himself Ron`s, Have`t tried him yet but sure that I will. Sweets

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
Used to be a place called The Hickory House BBQ ...going north of Charlotte toward the College , not far at all , a few miles ...look it up in the phonebook ">

Re:Kettle Grilling Tip
than all the joints in town. Another good parking lot guy sets up at the corner of Remount and West blvd on Thursdays and Fridays.
Bubba`s on the north side of town (Sunset Rd exit off I-77) has good stew but his Q is cooked in an electric cooker with hickory chips for the last few hours.
Old Hickory House has the best Q in town for a restaurant, but the sauce is horrible. They`re log burners and proud of it. His stuff is good enough you don`t need any sauce.
