Smoker Comparison: BBQ Galore Smoker vs. Weber Water Smoker
Am weighing the purchase of a Barbeques Galore Charcoal Offset Smoker versus the Weber Smokey Mountain (vertical) smoker.
Does the design of an offset fire box have any advantages or drawbacks?
May be a dumb question, but --- is the BBQ Galore a water smoker? Is that one differentiating feature of the Weber?
Would appreciate any views and input regarding their relative merits or drawbacks. Thanks!

heat cooker with a deflector (water pan) between the meat and the fire. With an offset, you have more grill space than the ovoid WSM but the meat furthest from the offset will take longer to cook. when I want to do a pork butt or turkey but it has quite a limited capacity for ribs (I hate rolled up ribs!). The thing you have to ask yourself in makin your choice is "how many folks am I generally gonna be cookin for?" and "how much do I need to cook up for these folks?". If you`re cookin for a small group of small eaters, the WSM will be a great unit to get. On the other hand, if you even cookin for the family and that includes 2-3 teenagers or a son-in-law, you`ll want somethin with more capacity than the WSM.
I think you`ll find as you read more of the posts here that most folks have 2 cookers. Why? Different needs and expectations.
