What to smoke?
I was wondering if anyone out there has ever smoked a steak before? If there is anyone who has could you please let me know for how long you smoked it. Basically I was thinking of putting some steaks in with some chicken breasts into the smoker. Could you let me know about how long you cooked them for?

re:What to smoke?
I like the idea for smoking chicken breast, as this is a very tasty treat. It is better if you can use boneless chicken breast so it will take less time to cook. As for the steaks I will have to say that this is not a great idea. Smoked steak is not that good. You are much better off just grilling the steaks.

re:What to smoke?
Anyone ever smoke rib eyes? I really want to try this out but have nothing to go by. I was thinking that it would be best if smoked for part of the time but then grilled for most of the time. What do you all think about that?

Smoked steak? Why? I do not understand why you want to smoke steaks. They taste so good when grilled so why ruin a good thing. But try it out anyways and let us know how it comes out.

Why not try it out? It would be fun to at least see how it comes out.

re:What to smoke?
Instead of smoking the steaks, why dont you try to cook them on the grill very slowly? I think this will pull a lot of smoke into the meat. I would recommend trying it at around 300 degrees with the meat not directly over the smoke. You will get a smoked flavor but the meat will stay tender and juicy. For me a steak is not a steak without that nice crust on the outside. Dont you think?

re:What to smoke?
I think that smoking a steak does not seem right. I mean why would you want to dry out a nice juicy porterhouse by putting it in the smoker? Also you would definitely not get the nice tasting crust on the outside like most of us prefer on steak. I am just saying that it seems like a waste of perfectly good piece of meat. Save the smoking for cheaper pieces.

re:What to smoke?
By smoking it, I believe that it is making the process slightly more complicated then it needs to be.

re:What to smoke?
I totally agree with you. If you going to smoke a steak only do so for a little bit of time and then grill it the rest of the way.

re:What to smoke?
Dont get me wrong though, I think everyone is entitled to do whatever they choose to with their piece of meat. I was only giving my honest opinion. If you think it will satisfy your taste then I say go for it.
